Process Engineer (m/f/d) - Plant Development

Become part of the climate revolution!

The opportunity - Shape your influential role

IIn our state-of-the-art development environment, you will be responsible for the conception, design and optimization of test stands and pilot containers for our innovative plasma-based processes. You will shape the entire engineering process - from process planning to technical implementation - and ensure that our systems meet the high requirements for safety, efficiency and scalability. You will contribute your expertise in mechanical, thermal and fluid dynamic principles and work closely with interdisciplinary teams of experts. We are looking for a process engineer or chemical engineer who has a passion for innovative process technologies, technical acumen and a systematic way of working to design our plants and lay the foundation for the industrial success of our technology. Your tasks are:

  • Planning, design and specification of new systems for CO₂ and exhaust gas valorization
  • Creation, maintenance and checking of P&IDs (Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams) as a central basis for basic and detailed engineering
  • Processing of process and P&I flow diagrams and derivation of equipment lists and specifications
  • Process engineering design and specification of equipment (e.g. pumps, heat exchangers, reactors)
  • Implementation of basic and detail engineering as well as support for scale-up processes
  • Implementation of installation and layout plans as well as support during construction, assembly and commissioning
  • Use of common process simulation tools (e.g. Aspen HYSYS, ChemCAD) for the design and calculation of processes
  • Creation of technical documentation and interface coordination with purchasing, development, partners and suppliers
  • Support with safety and risk analyses (e.g. HAZOP)
  • Coordination and management of projects

In this role, you will have the opportunity to contribute your technical and creative skills, help shape innovative technologies and use your expertise in a forward-looking environment.

Your profile - face challenges and develop yourself further

  • Completed studies in the field of process engineering, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering with a focus on process engineering or comparable qualification
  • At least three years of experience in plant engineering, preferably in the field of chemistry, process engineering or energy processes
  • Basic understanding of thermal, fluid dynamic and chemical processes
  • Experience in basic and detailed engineering of process plants (pilot or industrial plants)
  • Knowledge in the creation of P&ID schemes, P&IDs, calculation methods and process engineering tools
  • Experience with process simulation (e.g. Aspen HYSYS, ChemCAD, AutoCAD Plant, EPLAN, Aspen or comparable software) desirable
  • Understanding of process automation and interfaces to electrical engineering an advantage
  • Systematic and analytical way of working with an eye for detail
  • Experience in project work with interdisciplinary teams and in dealing with external partners and suppliers, including strong communication skills
  • Knowledge of relevant standards and directives (e.g. Pressure Equipment Directive, ATEX, explosion protection) is an advantage

Desirable additional skills:

  • Knowledge of reactors and chemistry: understanding the chemical and physical processes that take place in the developed reactors
  • Knowledge of I&C technology: understanding of measurement and control technology to facilitate collaboration with electrical engineers
  • Agile methods: Experience in the use of agile project management approaches such as Scrum or Kanban.

Your benefits - Develop yourself and change the world:

  • Steep learning curve in an innovative company.
  • The opportunity to actively do something about climate change.
  • Flexible working hours and hybrid working options.
  • The opportunity to work with a high degree of personal responsibility.
  • Access to modern research facilities and comprehensive training opportunities.
  • Working on a unique, sustainable technology in the field of CO₂ and exhaust gas utilization.
  • Design freedom when setting up new process and test systems.
  • A young, dynamic environment with a focus on innovation and speed of implementation.
  • Versatile development and career opportunities in a growing team.
