Principal Pulsed-Power Engineer (Nanosecond Generator Topologies & High-Speed Switching Technology)

Become part of the climate revolution!

The opportunity - Shape your influential role

Be responsible for the electrical architecture and practical development of our nanosecond and multipulse generators—from topology selection to measured prototype hardware—to produce controllable, repeatable, and energy-efficient pulses that enhance plasma performance and reduce specific energy input.

Your tasks at a glance:

  • Responsibilities: Architecture, topology selection, design, construction, commissioning, and optimization of ns pulse generators.
  • Translate: Plasma/reactor requirementsinto electrical specifications (amplitude, rise/fall time, pulse width, polarity, repetition rate, energy, burst, timing, protection).
  • Development: suitabletopologies (solid-state/impedance-matched Marx, PFL/Blumlein, line-type, transformer-based), including energy storage, charging, gate driver, and trigger stages.
  • Design: Multi-pulse, burst, and multichannel concepts with low jitter and configurable pulse sequences.
  • Simulation & Measurement: HV prototypesusing broadband voltage/current measurement technology; designing protection systems and performing root-cause analyses.
  • Documentation: adesign package that external partners can reproduce, while architectural expertise remains with enaDyne.

Here you get the chance to contribute your own ideas, take on responsibility and make a real impact with your technical skills.

Your profile - face challenges and develop yourself further

You not only have specialist knowledge, but also the passion to create something new together in a team. You work in a structured, solution-oriented and independent manner - and enjoy tackling challenges with creativity and technical skill. Particularly important to us:

  • Degree in electrical engineering, power electronics, high-voltage engineering, or applied physics (Ph.D. preferred but not required).
  • Demonstrable personal development, design, AND commissioning of at least one ns pulse generator from concept to measured hardware—mere operational or procurement experience is not sufficient.
  • Extensive expertise in pulsed-power topologies, high-speed switching technology, pulse-shaping networks, energy storage, and high-voltage insulation.
  • Practical gate driver/trigger design, isolation, timing/jitter, and switch protection at high dv/dt and di/dt.
  • Safe Use of High-Frequency Pulse Measurement Technology: Oscilloscopes, High-Voltage Probes, Current Sensors, Bandwidth, Grounding, Safety.
  • Ability to lead a challenging development initiative. Typically, 5+ years of relevant experience (an exceptional track record may substitute for this).

Desirable additional skills:

  • Pulsed-power sources for DBD/SDBD, streamers, or plasma catalysis.
  • Multi-pulse/N+1 concepts, precise multichannel synchronization, configurable bursts, pre-pulse/bias.
  • Publications, patents, or a portfolio demonstrating measured generator performance.

Desired Mindset

  • Developer and Architect – basic physical design plus debugging on the test bench.
  • Evidence-based—measured waveforms and energy balances matter more than titles.
  • Team-oriented, highly self-reliant, and uncompromising when it comes to electrical safety.

Your benefits - Develop yourself and change the world:

  • Steep learning curve in an innovative company.
  • The opportunity to actively do something about climate change.
  • Flexible working hours and hybrid working options.
  • The opportunity to work with a high degree of personal responsibility.
  • Access to modern research facilities and comprehensive training opportunities.
  • Work on highly innovative technologies for decarbonization and exhaust gas purification
  • Exciting projects in the field of pilot and prototype systems
  • Modern workshop and laboratory equipment, practical working environment
  • An interdisciplinary team with short decision-making processes and a lot of creative freedom
  • Opportunities for professional and personal development

Interested?

Candidates who generally have at least five years of directly relevant professional or applied research experience are invited to apply. Demonstrable experience in independently developing pulsed-power systems may waive the formal seniority requirement. Please send your resume and, if possible, a brief description of one or two generators you have personally developed to Jobs@enaDyne.de.

enaDyne GmbH values equal opportunities and diversity. All qualified applicants are considered for employment, regardless of ethnic and social origin, religion, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, caring responsibilities or age.
