Principal Pulsed-Power Engineer, EMC (Pulse Transmission & Plasma-Load Coupling)

Become part of the climate revolution!

The opportunity - Shape your influential role

Manage the coupling chain from the generator output to the dynamic SDBD plasma load. Maximize the net energy arriving per pulse within the effective plasma time window and minimize reflections, parasitic losses, EMC interference, and component stress.

Your tasks at a glance:

  • Responsibility: thecoupled system: output stage, output port, current return path, line structure, reactor interface, electrode, and time-varying plasma load.
  • Design: low-inductance, parasitic-minimized (coaxial where appropriate) high-voltage architectures, including current loops, feed-throughs, grounding, and shielding.
  • Integration:Incorporate EMCinto the generator and test setup from the outset so that the trigger, control system, and measurement equipment remain stable under extreme dv/dt and di/dt conditions.
  • Modeling: Equivalentand time-dependent load models for SDBD reactors (capacitive-to-conductive, surface charge, pulse-to-pulse changes).
  • Design & Measurement: Impedance/reflection managementand a broadband measurement architecture that separates incident energy from reflected energy; energy balances for single-pulse and multi-pulse systems.
  • Document: Acceptance criteriaand design rules so that external partners can replicate the setup without having enaDyne's core architecture.

Here you get the chance to contribute your own ideas, take on responsibility and make a real impact with your technical skills.

Your profile - face challenges and develop yourself further

You not only have specialist knowledge, but also the passion to create something new together in a team. You work in a structured, solution-oriented and independent manner - and enjoy tackling challenges with creativity and technical skill. Particularly important to us:

  • Degree in electrical engineering, high-voltage engineering, pulsed power, electromagnetic systems engineering, or applied physics.
  • Proven personal experience in developing at least one ns pulse generator or pulse output stage up to the measured hardware—this is NOT merely an EMC compliance or test lab role.
  • A solid understanding of pulsed-power topologies and high-speed switching technology, PLUS in-depth expertise in parasitic effects, line effects, and current return paths.
  • Practical EMC-by-Design for High dv/dt and di/dt: Common-Mode and Differential-Mode, Grounding, Equipotential Bonding, Shielding, Insulation, Filtering, Protection.
  • Advanced NS Pulse Measurement Techniques: D-dot/B-dot/Rogowski, Probe Load, Bandwidth, Calibration, TDR/De-embedding, Measurement Uncertainty.
  • Ability to modify hardware and conduct root-cause analyses—not just simulate them or coordinate compliance efforts. Typically, 5+ years of relevant experience.

Desirable additional skills:

  • DBD/SDBD, streamer, or corona plasma loads; transition from a cold capacitive load to conductive plasma.
  • Impedance-matched generators, coaxial/line-like structures, reflected energy management, multi-generator systems.
  • SPICE, CST, HFSS, or COMSOL, validated against measured waveforms; specifications for contract manufacturers.

Desired Mindset

  • Systems Thinking – Source, Line, Port, Reactor, Plasma, and Measurement Technology as a Time-Dependent System.
  • Experimental rigor—proving what actually enters the reactor and where the energy flows, not what looks clean at the output.
  • Hands-on, collaborative, and safety-conscious when dealing with fast high-voltage transients.

Your benefits - Develop yourself and change the world:

  • Steep learning curve in an innovative company.
  • The opportunity to actively do something about climate change.
  • Flexible working hours and hybrid working options.
  • The opportunity to work with a high degree of personal responsibility.
  • Access to modern research facilities and comprehensive training opportunities.
  • Work on highly innovative technologies for decarbonization and exhaust gas purification
  • Exciting projects in the field of pilot and prototype systems
  • Modern workshop and laboratory equipment, practical working environment
  • An interdisciplinary team with short decision-making processes and a lot of creative freedom
  • Opportunities for professional and personal development
